Almet "Sonny" Irving Thomas, age 66 of Millville, passed away on Wednesday May 28, 2014, at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland. Sonny was born in Atlantic City to the late Irving N. and Louise C. (Willits) Thomas. He was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, Class of 1965, and a Veteran of the US Navy serving during the Vietnam era. Sonny was a resident of Cape May County for 23 years before moving to Millville 7 years ago. Prior to retirement, he was employed for 17 years as a bus operator for NJ Transit and also by Stroehmann Baking Company for 24 years as a route salesman. Sonny was a member of the Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints of Vineland. He enjoyed sailing and playing 500 rummy with his grandchildren. Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Ruth Ann (Block) Thomas of Millville. His 2 daughters; Lisa M. Cunningham and husband Shawn of Reinholds, PA and Melissa L. Klecz and husband Scott of Laurel Lake, NJ. His 6 grandchildren; Lisa Marie Kelly, Shauna, Nicholas, Kevin, Lisa and Raymond. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren; Madison, Logan and Thomas. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2nd at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 110 Highland Ave. Vineland, with Bishop Les Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Goshen United Methodist Church Cemetery, Goshen, NJ. Family and friends may gather on Monday from 9:30-11:00 am at the Church.
