Obituary

Archibald "Archie" Benjamin Perry passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Joseph and Ruth Perry and was the first of 6 children. The family moved to Vineland, NJ in 1929 and lived on Park Ave., then moved to 532 Elmer Street, Vineland where he grew up. He went to Cunningham Elementary School, Reber Jr. High School and graduated in 1948 from Vineland High School(Landis Ave).

Archie worked at Doles Bakery and Princes Ladies Clothing Store on Landis Ave., near 6th St. in Vineland till he was drafted into the US Army in 1950. He was a Paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. During his service time, he met Joyce Mitchell who was going to Fisk University for her Teaching Degree, they were married in 1952. After Archie was honorably discharged, they lived in the St. Louis, MO. area and Archie worked for the US Atomic Energy Commission. They moved back to the Vineland area about 1956 and lived on Delsea Dr. then moved to their present home. Archie worked for his father at Perry's Specialized Auto Service as an Auto Engine Specialist until he started his own business, around 1961 until he retired in 2008. Archie was a deacon and on the board for many years at the First Presbyterian Church of Vineland, NJ. He was also a member of the South Jersey Business Association.

Archie is survived by his loving wife Joyce Perry, his 3 beloved children; daughters, Cheryl Butler and Cori Hayes and his son Archie Perry, and his 11 cherished grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Archie is also survived by his sister Phyllis Horsey and his brother Phillip Perry and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held privately.
