Barbara Joan Formica, age 86 of Vineland, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Christiana Care Hospital, Newark, DE surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Charleston, Missouri, Barbara was one of ten children of the late Reuben M. and Ethel M. (Wiggin) Forister. She was raised in St. Louis, MO where she was a majorette in high school. Barbara lived in many different U.S. states in her younger years, but was most impressed by her time spent in Anchorage, Alaska where she was captivated by the display of the Northern Lights in the "Land of the Midnight Sun". Afterward, most of her adult life was lived as a resident of South Jersey.

Barbara retired as an Operations Manager of over 25 years with Smith Barney brokerage firm in Vineland.  Strong in faith with true love for the Lord, Barbara was a member of Faith Bible Church of Vineland. She was a strong and resilient woman who taught her children kindness and respect for others, encouraging them to follow their dreams and creative endeavors.

Barbara took great pleasure in her creative talent for decorating. She could effortlessly beautify any room with her special touch. She also enjoyed listening to a variety of music from Elvis to Classical music. Barbara enjoyed sitting outside and looking at the beauty of nature that surrounded her, especially hummingbirds and chipmunks, and above all she truly cherished time shared with her family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Formica, sons-in-law; Jack Nata and Robert Carlton and by her dog, Honey.

Barbara is survived by her 3 loving and devoted children; James Thomas (Cathie) of Lancaster, PA, Deborah Carlton of Pennsville, NJ and Tonya Nata of New Providence, NJ. Her 2 step-children; Joann Manestrina (Robert) and Nicholas Formica, all of Vineland. She will also be lovingly remembered by her 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 7th at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Family and friends may gather for the viewing from 10:00-11:00 am, prior to the service. Barbara will be laid to rest in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland, following the service.

Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and the American Heart Association.
