Benito A. Lopez, age 93, of Vineland, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Benito was born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico to the late Gumicindo and Tomasa (Lopez) Alvarez.

Benito lived most of his adult life in Vineland, New Jersey, where he built a beautiful life surrounded by family and community. He was the devoted husband of Maria Lopez, with whom he shared many years of love and companionship.

Benito worked for more than 30 years at Venice Maid, dedicating himself to his work and his family. He was a true handyman who could build and fix almost anything. He loved creating things from scratch and took great pride in working with his hands.

A homebody at heart, Benito found joy in the simple things in life. He especially loved gardening and spending time at home. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making those around him smile. One of the sweetest things about Benito was his thoughtfulness toward his wife—he would sometimes cut a single flower from his garden for Maria, a small gesture that reflected the love he carried for her.

Benito leaves behind a beautiful family legacy, including four children, Marisabel Torres, Benito Lopez Jr., Mildred lopez, and Magaly Lopez; his two stepdaughters: Mayra Decena and Sylvia Reyes; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, who will carry his memory and the lessons he shared with them.

He is also survived by his siblings; Raul Alvarez Lopez, Joaquin Vasquez, Lopez, Cecilio Vasquez , Felicita Whitson, and Luisa Alvarez Lopez, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will him deeply.

Benito will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his creativity, his humor, his love of gardening, and most of all, his deep love for his family. His hands may no longer be here to build and repair, but everything he created—including the memories and love he gave his family—will remain for generations to come.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM from the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends may gather from 10:00-11:00 AM in the funeral home, prior to Benito's service.
