Benito Melendez-Reyes, age 89 of Vineland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 6, 2017.

Benito was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, to the late Jacinta Reyes-Diaz and Pablo Melendez-Rivera.  He worked within the Progresso Food Vineland plant for many years.  Benito was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish and enjoyed long walks, gardening and spending time with his family.  He will be greatly missed by everyone he touched.

Benito was predeceased by his daughter Ana Tapia, his son Pablo Martinez and his 11 siblings.

Benito is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Elisa (Martinez) Melendez of Vineland.  His 6 children; Giral, Maria, Elizabeth , Ilsa, Albert and Ervin. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 12 ^th at 11:00 am at Divine Mercy Parish, 23 W. Chestnut Ave. Vineland.  Family and friends will be received from 9:30 – 10:45 am at the Church.  Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
