Obituary
Bernard "Bernie" Grossman, age 86 of Vineland, passed away on Friday, April
1, 2016 at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.
Born in Philadelphia on August 24, 1929 to the late Ira A. and Sarah
(Perlman) Grossman, Bernie was a Vineland resident for over 65 years. In his
early years, Bernie worked as an electrician. Bernie joined the Army in
1949 and was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey. After his honorable
discharge from the service, Bernie met his future bride, Rita, at a USO
dance and married in 1950, and in 1954 he and his family settled in
Vineland. After his retirement from Kimble Glass in 1984, he opened up his
own store on Commerce St. in Bridgeton called "Bernie's." For almost 30
years, he sold coins, baseball cards, beanie babies and comic books.
Bernie's last year and a half was spent at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home,
Vineland, where he enjoyed his new friends, playing poker every morning and
the weekly bingo games. He loved the soldier's home and Bernie's family is
grateful of the excellent care he received while there.
Bernie was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Rita (Fagan) in 2006.
Bernie is survived by two children; Linda Armanini and her husband Robert of
Millville and Bernice Gibe of Pittsgrove. Four grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held privately on Sunday, April 3rd at Alliance
Cemetery, Norma, NJ.
