IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Arlene
Rheppard
September 27, 1932 – February 6, 2024
On February 6, 2024, Betty Arlene Rheppard, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the Cooper University Hospital, Camden, NJ. Betty was 91 years old at the time of her death, which was the result of a stroke.
Betty was born and raised in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late C. Leroy and Beulah (Hauck) Pick. A graduate of Lewisburg High School's class of 1950, Betty moved to Vineland, NJ after marrying, the now deceased, Lewis F. Rheppard. A dedicated employee throughout her life, Betty's first job was as a roller-skating waitress at Stewart's Root Beer drive-in restaurant. Later, while raising her two children, she worked for William E. Snell Electrical Construction Co., where she was the office manager for over 40 years. At the young age of 62, she began a new career with the Vineland Board of Education, working at public schools throughout the city, finally retiring at the age of 84. Betty loved reading, puzzles and visiting with friends. She was known for her kindness, compassion and light-hearted heckling of the Phillies when they failed to meet her high expectations.
Betty is survived by her 2 children and their spouses: Barbara A. Abriola and Dennis Abriola Sr. of Vineland, NJ and Lewis Rheppard Jr. and Cheryl Dyar of Troy, PA. Her 6 grandchildren; Dennis Abriola Jr., Stephanie Bacon, Louie Moffit, David Moffit and Sueann and CindyLou, along with her 4 great-grandchildren; Michael, Darlene, Avery and Nate.
Betty was preceded in death by her 6 siblings: Annabelle, John, Phillis, Florence, Leroy Jr. and Shirley.
Special thanks to Cooper University Health Care, Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
