Britt Johansson, age 82 of Vineland, died peacefully with family by her side on December 10, 2024 after a long journey with dementia.

Britt was born on July 26, 1942 in Toreboda, Sweden, to Luther and Dagny (Andersson) Johansson. After secretarial school then working for Volvo in Gothenburg, Britt yearned for a change and it was childcare employment as an au pair that brought her first to London then to New Jersey where she met Peter Dorian. Their marriage in 1964 produced two daughters and lasted almost 30 years.

Britt excelled at many varied jobs but found her true calling when she began working with developmentally disabled clients from the Vineland Developmental Center who transitioned to community living. Her care for these special ladies extended to welcoming them into her home as frequent guests who were treated like family. After Britt retired in 2002 as a group home supervisor, her passion for travel took her around the world and she filled her bookshelves with albums of her adventures. She was an avid reader and loved music. The ultimate people-person, Britt treasured her many friends. She was happiest when spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she stayed connected with loved ones in Sweden through regular visits and letters. Britt's final visit to her homeland was a joyous celebration of her 75th birthday accompanied by her daughters. She will be fondly remembered for her unwavering positivity, enthusiasm, and kindness to all.

Britt is survived by her loving daughters Elizabeth Lentz (Richard) of Vineland, NJ, and Christine Dorian (Andrew Broder) of Merion, PA, grandsons Alex and Ryan Broder, as well as her brother Bengt Johansson (Inga-lill), nephew Robert Johansson, and many cousins in Sweden.  Her extended family includes the compassionate caregivers and her fellow residents at Spring Oak Assisted Living where Britt lived during the last 9 years of her life.

The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 18th at 3:00 pm at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Family and friends may gather from 2:00 – 3:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
