Carmen M. Atiles, age 92 of Vineland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Carmen was born in Narangito, Puerto Rico to the late Canuto and Romualda (Ruiz-Cordero) Romero. Carmen was a resident of Vineland for the past 47 years. Carmen was a graduate of the Bible Institute of Latino Americano, always strong in faith, she was a co-founder of three churches, Igelsia Puerta de Refugio, Iglesia Fuente de Vida and Rock of Salvation Church, all of Vineland. Carmen took great pride and care in visiting others in need and teaching the word of God. She enjoyed gardening, growing plants and loved roses and lilies.

Carmen was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Ramon Atiles in 2012, her daughter Gloria Garcia-Torres in 2013 and by her son Samuel Atiles Sr. in 2015.

Carmen is survived by her 7 loving and devoted children. 2 sons; Johnny Atiles of Vineland and Efrain Atiles and wife Afrose of Naples, FL. Her 5 daughters; Elizabeth Ocasio and husband Joe, Sarah Surace and husband Henry, Miriam Rodriguez and husband Anibal, Naomi Ocasio and husband Rev. Benjamin Sr. and Daisy Guadalupe and husband Moses Sr., all of Vineland. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6 ^th at 10:00 am at the Rock of Salvation Church, 513 E. Grape St. Vineland, with Rev. Benjamin Ocasio Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends may gather on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the CHURCH and again on Friday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 am at the CHURCH.
