It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol Ann Fanning, age 87, of Vineland, NJ. She peacefully departed this life in her sleep on April 4, 2025, at her beloved home.

Born to the late Cyrus and Elizabeth (Leiby) Rhode in Reading, PA, where Carol grew up. She pursued her education at Harcum College.

For 25 years, Carol was employed at the Vineland Board of Education. Beyond her professional life, Carol was known for her immense love for animals and was a devoted pet owner, providing a nurturing home for her furry companion Emma. Carol particularly enjoyed spending her days at the beach, where she found peace and joy. She was an avid reader and an Eagles football enthusiast.

Carol is survived by her sister, Rosemary Mack and her husband, Greg, of San Diego, CA; her brother, Cyrus Rhode, and his wife, Artie, of Cambridge, MA; her son, Brian, and his wife, Christine; as well as her son, Patrick, and his wife, Larissa, as well as her three grandchildren, Ian, Shane, and Karissa.

A memorial service to celebrate Carol's life will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, located at 1024 E. Landis Ave, Vineland. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather and pay their respects from 1:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the service. Following the memorial, Carol will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Vineland.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in memory of Carol be made to the Southern Regional Animal Shelter, 1244 N. Delsea Dr. Vineland, NJ 08360, reflecting her love for animals and desire to help those in need.
