Chester J. Baer, age 71 of Vineland, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in Atlantic City, surrounded by his loving family.

Chester was born in Millville, to the late John Henry and Catherine (Navone) Baer, and was a resident of Vineland for most of his life.  He graduated from Vineland High School with the Class of 1964 and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Airforce as a sergeant  during the Vietnam War.  Prior to his retirement, Chester worked as a welder and machinist with Millville Iron Works for 20 years.  Chester was a former member of the Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church of Vineland.  He enjoyed working on cars, computers, building things and going to the Cowtown Flea Market.  Most especially, Chester loved to share time with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his sister Shirley Hughes.

Chester is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Charlotte (Geisser) Baer of Vineland.  His 2 sons; James Baer of Elmer and Robert Baer of Vineland.  His granddaughter Christina Baer of Vineland, along with 2 great-grandchildren; Gabriel and Genavieve.  He is also survived by his brother Richard Baer and wife Eileen of Milford, DE., his sister Helen Moore and husband Rev. Ernie of Vineland, and by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 26 ^th at 3:00 pm at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, with Rev. Ernie Moore officiating.  Family and friends may gather from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, prior to the service.
