Sergeant Christopher Gavin Mattie, 33, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 7, 2019.

He was born February 19, 1985 in Vineland, NJ to Devon Sr. and Paulette Mattie.  He graduated from Vineland High School in 2003 and continued his education at Rider University where he graduated in 2007 earning a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, and Advertisement.  In 2013, Christopher graduated with Class #85 from the Camden County College Police Academy.  After the academy, he excelled in his career as a Corrections Officer for the Cumberland County Department of Corrections, where he was ultimately promoted to Sergeant.

On August 6, 2016, he married Marline Rosario.  Together, they had one son, Cohen G. Mattie.  He was a proud brother of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.  Throughout Christopher's life he enjoyed dancing, basketball, football (Eagles), family game nights with his parents and his niece, McKinleigh and his nephew, Devon III "Tre".  He also loved going on walks with his wife and son, and spending time with family and friends.  And most importantly, Christopher was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many.

Christopher is survived by his loving wife, Marline (Rosario) Mattie and his cherished son, Cohen G. Mattie. His parents, Devon Sr. and Paulette Mattie and his siblings, Janice, Julie, Devon Jr (Sharlene), and Leon.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and many uncles, aunts, and family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Chestnut Assembly of God Church, 2554 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland NJ, with Pastor Ralph Snook officiating.  Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery, 550 N. Valley Ave, Vineland NJ.  The family will greet friends at church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
