Christopher Thomas Stanek

August 29, 1974 – June 28, 2025

Christopher Thomas Stanek, age 50, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on June 28, 2025.

Born in Hammond, Indiana, Chris was the beloved son of Karen Marie Resetar and Michael Stanek Sr. and devoted brother to Nicole Stanek. He was a proud graduate of Millville High School, where he earned honors that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication.

Chris married the love of his life, Jean (Gonzalez) Stanek, and through their union, he became a devoted stepfather to three children and a proud grandfather of six.

Chris's life was defined by service. Beginning in 1992, he served with Laurel Lake Fire and Rescue Co. Squad 13. His career continued as an EMT with Medi Wheels and American Medical Response, where he also worked as a dispatcher. He went on to become EMT Captain with Bridgeton Emergency Ambulance Association (BEAA), proudly responding to Ground Zero after 9/11. He also worked part-time for Bridgeton Fire Department EMS and retired as a Senior Police Correctional Officer at South Woods State Prison.

He had a passion for rescue operations—especially extrication—and Rescue Truck 7921 held a special place in his heart.

Chris will be remembered for his courage, compassion, quick wit, and unwavering commitment to helping others. His strength, sense of duty, and calm under pressure touched many lives and will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

Because when things got tough, everyone knew who they could count on."

A legacy of calm in crisis, and a hero we will never forget.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM from the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland with Pastor Freddy Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends may gather on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
