Obituary

We are gathered here today with heavy hearts to say farewell to our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Today, I want to share some memories and reflections on Dominica's life, love and the impact she had on all of us. Nica had a way of making everyone feel special. She wasn't just a great mother, she was a loving angel to many.

She was born on January 22, 1932 in Utuado, Puerto Rico to Aurelio Borrero and Brigida Velez. Nica was married to Angel Emilio Rodriguez Pacheco of Yauco, Puerto Rico until his departure in 1999. She had nine amazing children; Maria Rodriguez, Blanca Iris Rodrigue, Maria Norma Nazario Rodriguez, Angel Emilio Rodriguez (deceased), Moises Rodriguez Borrero, Elizabeth Rodriguez Borrero, Angel Emilio Rodriguez Jr., Luz Ivette Rodriguez Borrero and Esther Cortez.

Nica is survived by six siblings; Nehmiah, Alejandro, ItaMar, Noemi, Febes and Sarahi. She is predeceased by five siblings; Eduardo, Abigail, Maria, David and Samuel. Nica was bless with a grand lineage. In total, Dominica has 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Leaving behind a legacy of love and fond memories.

Although she was an amazing seamstress, her passion was to crochet. Nica was employed at the Vineland Kosher Poultry for many years before she retired and became a stay at home mom. During those years, she attended the Vineland Senior Adult Center, where she enjoyed playing Bingo, painting, arts and crafts and spending time with others. Nica loved bringing joy to anyone by singing "Happy Birthday" to them on their special day.

She was a member of the Spaninsh Assembly of God Church for over 58 years, where she will be remembered for singing hymns and her faithful attendance. This is where her children gained their love for the Lord. She enjoyed fellowship with her Pastor and members of her church. In her last few years, Nica was blessed with home services. They would share the word of God and sing together, ensuring her spirits always remain lifted.

Lastly, we share with you all, some of Dominica's favorite things. Her favorite color was blue and her favorite snack was a bag of Chester's Cheese Puffcorn. Her eyes would light up whenever her son-in-law would bring her a bag of them. She loved butterflies and her favorite flowers were Hydrangeas. Shirley Temple was her favorite actress and her evening routine consisted of an 11 p.m. Lemon Tea with Ginger Chew and reading Psalm 4 before going to bed.

Nica will be terribly missed, but the love and life lessons that she leaves behind will never be forgotten!

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 24th from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Spanish Assembly of God Church, 3rd and Quince St. Vineland, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Following the service, Dominica will be laid to rest in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
