Donald J. Bernardi, age 80, was called to be with the Lord (hopefully) on Thursday, December 30, 2021. He was born on November 12, 1941 in Vineland, New Jersey to the late Peter and Sarah (Greensmith) Bernardi and as a young man, he became a member of the United States Army.

He was a proud electrician and member of an amazing brotherhood, IBEW Local 351 (592). After retirement, he became the owner of Wheat Road Tavern, also known as Bernardi's Restaurant and Lounge. This transition was based on the realization that it was cheaper to own the bar than to be a patron somewhere else! When Don retired from the restaurant and lounge, he then spent the remainder of his days with friends and family while creating lifelong memories.

He loved to raise hell and imply his crude humor during any interaction just to put a smile or give a laugh to all those he encountered.

Donald was predeceased by his saintly wife, Barbara (Tobolski).

He is survived by his beloved children Donald Jr., Thomas (Tia), Bonnie, Patricia (David), and Jessica; grandchildren, his best buddies, Katherine, Dominic, David, Salvatore, Marcellino, Alyssa and Lucas. Donald also leaves behind a brother, Pete (Carolyn), brother and sister-in-law Lesley and Marianna Olson, George (Kitty) Tobolski along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A 6:00 PM service to celebrate Don's legacy will be held on Friday, January 7th, 2022 from the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, NJ

Family and friends may gather beginning at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. If you can't attend due to Covid, have a shot of VO or Crown Royal in memory of "The Don".

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
