Earl W. Shipton, age 81 of Vineland, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 10, 2017.

Earl was born and raised in Vineland where he remained a lifelong resident.  He was the son of the late Earl Henry Shipton and Margaret (Lilla) Shipton-Radcliffe.  Earl began his working career in the glass industry at Kimble Glass for 8 years where he earned his apprenticeship as a machinist.  He then worked at Kontes Glass for 15 years and Richland Glass for 30 years before retiring in 2005.  In his younger years, Earl enjoyed waterskiing, teaching waterskiing, and hunting in Pennsylvania and out west.  He was also an avid car enthusiast and attended car shows with his friends.  Earl looked forward to crab parties and having "breakfast with his friends."  Earl was a proud and loving father of his two sons and proud and loving PopPop of his cherished grandchildren who will miss him.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sharon (Ewan) Shipton of Vineland.  His son, Lawrence Shipton and wife Elizabeth and his 3 wonderful grandchildren; Andrea Shipton, Matthew Shipton and Sarah Shipton of Mountain Top, Pa.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins

Earl was preceded in death by his son Kenneth Shipton, his sister Dorothy Simpson and brother-in-law Thomas Simpson, brother-in-law Jack Ewan and wife Gloria, as well by his nephew Tom Simpson.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 16th at 11:00 am with Rev. John Robbins officiating, at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland.  Family and friends may gather from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home.  Interment will be private.
