Obituary

Edwin Carreras Jr., age 44, of Millville (formerly of Vineland) New Jersey, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026. He was born in Bridgeton, N.J. on October 25, 1982 to Rosa and Edwin Carrera Sr. Edwin grew up in Vineland, New Jersey, where he spent his formative years. Both of his parents preceded him in death.

Edwin was a federal officer at FCI Fairton, a career he was deeply passionate about. His work was more than a job to him, it was something he took pride in and devoted himself to wholeheartedly.

Those who knew Edwin will remember his humor as one of the brightest parts of his personality. He was a natural jokester who always had a joke ready and could make an entire room laugh, often at the most unexpected—and sometimes completely inappropriate—moments. His laughter was contagious, and his ability to bring joy to others made him unforgettable.

Behind his humor was a man with a deeply caring heart. Edwin looked after the people around him and always made sure they were okay, even during times when he himself was struggling. His kindness, loyalty, and genuine concern for others revealed the depth of his character. He gave comfort, support, and laughter freely, leaving people feeling cared for and remembered.

Edwin found joy in the things he loved, including cars, baseball, and music. He enjoyed listening to Eminem, Ice Cube, Fat Joe, and old-school freestyle rap. These interests were part of the personality and spirit that made him uniquely Edwin and will bring back cherished memories to those who knew him best.

Above all, Edwin loved his family. He leaves behind his daughter, Hailey; his son, Jovanni; and his beloved grandson, Ares, whom he adored and spoke about every single day. His love for Ares was unmistakable, and the joy his grandson brought him was a treasured part of his life.

He is also survived by his sisters, Rosa, Maria and her husband Mingo, Claudia, Carmen and Sonia. He leaves behind his nieces, Yanelis, Genesis, Ayrihanna, Kayla and her husband Jose, Marie Elena and her husband Moises, Amanda and her husband Gabi, Melissa and her husband Jesse, Veronica, Jessica and Jennifer and her husband Angel. His nephews include Robinson, Isaiah, Emmanuel and his wife Marissa, Mikey and Steven and his wife Kaylani. He also leaves behind many great-nieces and great-nephews, who brought additional joy and love into his life.

Family was at the heart of Edwin’s life. The love he shared with them, the laughter he brought into their lives, and the memories they created together will remain a lasting part of his legacy. His absence will be deeply felt by all who loved him.

Edwin’s laughter will remain in the memories of everyone who knew him—the unexpected jokes, the moments that brought a room to life, and the joy he shared so freely. Yet his legacy reaches beyond his humor. It lives in the compassion he showed, the care he offered even when he was struggling, and the comfort he gave to those who needed him.

His greatest love was his family, especially his children and his beloved grandson, Ares. The love he shared with them, the memories they created, and the laughter that filled their lives will remain a lasting part of who he was. Through them and through all those he touched, Edwin’s generous spirit and devotion will continue to live on.

Edwin will be deeply missed and forever remembered—not only for the laughter he brought, but for the kindness, loyalty, and love he gave so freely.
