Our beloved Elisa Melendez arrived on February 26, 1933 at Vega Baja, Puerto Rico and departed on July 25, 2022 at home in Vineland, NJ, surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 89.

Elisa arrived to the U.S.A. in the 1950's and placed her family roots in the home she shared with her husband here in Vineland. She was a hardworking woman, and with determination, she was able to care for her entire family. Elisa worked for Progresso Foods for over 25 years. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was a devoted church goer. She also enjoyed gardening, riding her tricycle, listening to music, especially Carlos Vive, watching animal documentaries and loved to play dominoes.

She was predeceased by her husband Benito Melendez, daughter Ana M. Tapia, sons; Pablo Martinez and Alberto Vega and grandson Alberto Vega Jr. She was also preceded by her parents Juan and Hipolita Martinez and was the last of nine siblings.

Elisa is survived by her 7 loving grandbabies; Maribel, Evelyn (Anibal), Madelaine, Ervin (Mireya), Jamie (Eddie), Lenny and Edmanuel. Her 14 cherished great-grandbabies; Chris, Nate, Andy (Amanda), Enrique, Alisha, Tatyana, Yimera, Aracelis, Kristina, Jeremiah, Juliana, Milenny, Andrielys and Braceen. Along with her 4 beloved great-great-grandbabies; Liliani, Mariana, Melody and Zander and by her loved daughters; Ilsa Vega and Elizabeth Borrero and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Monday, August 1st at 11:00 am at the Divine Mercy Parish, 23 W. Chestnut Ave. Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends may gather at the Church on Monday from 10:00-11:00 am, prior to the Mass.
