IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ella Mae
Mittlestadt
September 10, 1927 – December 27, 2025
Ella Mae Mittlestadt peacefully went home to the Lord on December 26, 2025. Born in Kansas City, Missouri where she lived most of her life before relocating to New Jersey in 2003, surrounded by dear friends who became like family.
Ella found joy and serenity in the beauty around her—from summer afternoons at the rose gardens of Loose Park, to visits to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and simple pleasures like feeding the ducks with her children. She also loved the ocean more than any other pleasure in life. She found sanctuary and peace there. She had a keen eye for beauty in all things and lovingly passed that appreciation on to her children. Known for her quirky and engaging sense of humor, Ella brought warmth and light to everyone around her. Her faith in Jesus Christ was steadfast, providing her with strength, peace, and assurance throughout her life.
Ella is survived by her daughters, Wanda C. Greene and Beverly Jean Mittlestadt; her siblings, Judy Odom, Trudy Odom, and John Odom; and her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Mittlestadt, Bethany Tomasek, Brian Marshall, Blake Marshall, and Jacob H. Mittlestadt. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jerry Lee Mittlestadt and her dearly departed siblings, Sonny, Winston, Philip, Margaret, and Bea. Ella also leaves behind five beautiful great-grandchildren who she will greatly miss, as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Her life was anchored in faith, and now rests in the peace and promise of eternal life through Christ.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Meeting Room, 10 Pennsylvania Ave. Dorothy, NJ with Mr. James Riu officiating. Family and friends may gather from 12:00 - 1:00 pm at the Meeting Room. Following the service, Ella will be laid to rest in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Dorothy, NJ.
