Ellen "Joan" MacDade, age 93, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

Born on July 13, 1929, in Floral Park, New York, she spent her memorable childhood on Long Island. She spent a few years in Pleasantville, NJ but was a 70 year resident of Vineland, NJ.

Joan was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, William C. MacDade and by her parents, James D. Cogan and Charlotte (Leeds) and by her brother James Cogan.

After high school, Joan worked briefly as an operator at the Bell Telephone Company. Due to her quick action, at the age of nineteen, Joan was honored for saving a life of a woman who was overcome by coal gas fumes.

First and foremost, Joan was a homemaker and she also managed the office of the family business; MacDade Fire Equipment. She was a member of the Vineland Women's Club, worked for many years with the Cumberland County Board of Elections and a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Isidore Church. Her greatest joy was her family and she took immense pride and interest in everything they did.

Joan is survived by her loving daughter, Susan L. Paluskiewicz and husband Ted of Piscataway, NJ. 2 grandchildren; James (Amanda) Paluskiewicz of McLean, VA and Casey (Sean) Hagerty of Piscataway, NJ, and by her 3 great-grandchildren; Sloan and Theodore Hagerty and Caroline Paluskiewicz.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25th at 10:00 am at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville.
