Epifanía “Josefa” Oquendo, a cherished matriarch and lifelong resident of Vineland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Cooper Medical Center in Camden, at the age of 85.

Born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Epifania built a life deeply rooted in community, devotion, and above all, family. Known affectionately as Josefa, she brought warmth and joy to those around her through her vibrant spirit. She had a profound love for music, enjoyed a playful fondness for the lottery, and found her greatest happiness in the kitchen—cooking delicious meals for the family and friends she held so dear. Her home was a place of gathering, comfort, and unconditional love.

Josefa's legacy lives on through her devoted children: Jolie (Shawn) Miragliotta, Maira Rosario, Carmen Serrano, William (Migdalia) Serrano, Hipólito (Susan) Serrano, Edgardo (Jessica) Serrano and Luz (Candido) Cardona.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren—William, Justin, Anixa, Kimberly, Carlos Jr., Eraida, Dimitrius, Octavio, Marisol, Brenda, Carmen, Tamaira, Adrain, Jacob, Edwin, Rosa, Jessica, Candido Jr., Gabriel, Steven and Priscilla. Along with many beloved great-grandchildren and by her dear siblings: Ivan, Moncho, Domingo, Angel, Jesus and Anna.

Josefa is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved son, Adrian Serrano, as well as her siblings Tony, Rosalina, Paco, and Mercedes, who preceded her in death.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate Josefa's life during her viewing on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 10:00 am– 11:00 am at Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Following the service, Josefa will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
