In Loving Memory of Ernesto Ruiz Justiniano

February 12, 1927 – January 5, 2026

Ernesto Ruiz Justiniano passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 98.

He was born on February 12, 1927, in Lares, Puerto Rico, and spent most of his life in Utuado, a place he loved deeply and always considered home.

Ernesto was the beloved husband of Alicia Santiago and a devoted father. He was preceded in death by his son, Ernesto Ruiz ("Coco"), and is survived by his daughters, Leticia, Lourdes, Milly, and Nilly, who meant everything to him.

He was also a grandfather and stepfather to many grandchildren and stepchildren, all of whom loved and respected him as a father figure.

Ernesto served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He later worked for many years with the Peace Corps, continuing a life centered on service.

A skilled panadero, Ernesto owned and operated Panadería y Repostería San Miguel, where his work and dedication became part of the community's daily life. He found joy in simple things—helping others, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family. His presence was steady, calm, and reassuring.

Ernesto lived a full life grounded in family, purpose, and care for others. He will be truly missed.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Wainwright–Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland, NJ. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jose De La Rosa officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family of Mr. Ruiz, whom will forward to a local charity.
