Esperanza Martinez, age 91 of Vineland, passed away peacefully on Friday February 28, 2014 at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico to the late Angel Custodio and Esmerelda Martines, Esperanza was a resident of Vineland for over 60 years. Prior to retirement, she worked at Landis Clothing and then later at Progresso Foods of Vineland. Esperanza enjoyed knitting, sewing and jigsaw puzzles, but mostly loved sharing time with her family. She loved them with all her heart and was the loving matriarch raising her children and grandchildren. Esperanza was predeceased by her longtime companion, Carmelo Luciano in 2005, by her daughter Ana Rosa Guzman and by her son Richard Roldan. Esperanza is survived by her son Manuel Roldan and by her daughter, Blanca Nieves and husband Guillermo, all of Vineland. Her 5 children; Ana Santos, Evelyn Roldan, Evette Roldan, Luis Roldan, and Manuel Roldan. She is also survived by 5 generations, and by her 5 brothers; Ignacio Roman, Raul Roman, Wilfredo Martinez, Juan Custodio and Mario Custodio; 6 sisters; Auria roman, Maria Custodio, Antonia Custodio, Diana Custodio, Emelina Custodio and Gloria Custodio. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 5th at 10:00 am at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery.
