Esther Berger Brown, age 94, of Voorhees (formerly of Norma) passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 at home. Esther was born in Vineland to the late Mike and Mary (Tyler) Chonofsky and lived in Norma many year. She played girls basketball in the Norma Hall, was active in the Norma PTA, belonged to Hadassah in Vineland, attended Norma and Vineland Synagogues. Esther married her first husband, Hyman Berger who later passed away in 1967. In 1970 she married Herbert Brown, a Pharmacist in Atlantic City, she joined him working in the Pharmacy and after 10 years they purchased a home and moved to Ventnor. They were happily married for many years until his passing. Esther was a member of the Maryland Sisterhood, Beth Judah Sisterhood, Beth El Sisterhood, Knights of Phithies, Community Synagogue, Ort and Margate Sisterhood. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Silverman and her husband Martin of Cherry Hill and Son, Barry Berger of Stewart, Florida. Three grandchildren, Tamara and husband Peter, Jeffery and his wife Jenna and Matthew and his wife Jane. Also 8 great-grandchildren, Ava, Liam, Logan, Alex, Kate, Elba, Quinn and Eve. Relatives and friends are invite to Esther's Graveside service today Monday (today) January 20th at 2:00 PM from Alliance Cemetery, Norma, NJ., with Rabbi Yisroel Rapoport officiating.
