Eufemia Nieves, age 80 of Vineland, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 14, 2016, surrounded by those she held near to her heart.  Her life was one that was dedicated to faith, family, service and love.

She was born on September 3, 1935 in Patillas, Puerto Rico to the late Felipe and Josephina (DeJesus) Cintron.  Eufemia enjoyed the rustic countryside of Puerto Rico with her two sisters and four brothers.  Her life brought her to Brooklyn, NY where she met the love of her life, Rev. Hector M. Nieves.  They married on June 27, 1957 and together they had 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Eufemia was a member of Puerta de Refugio Church, where God called her to serve within the organization, Alfa y Omega Church Federation.  Here she was a licensed Minister who organized the Bible Institute Registrations and Graduations.  Her love for details and organizational skills made these events successful and memorable.

Eufemia is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Rev. Hector M. Nieves, of Vineland.  Her 3 children; Evelyn and husband Israel Mendoza, Gladys and husband Jaime R. Mendoza and Hector L. and wife Evelyn Nieves.  Her 9 grandchildren; Stephanie (Marcos) Ramos, Jennifer Mendoza, Phillip (Tatiana) Mendoza, Melissa Mendoza, Jessica (Josue) Montanez, Anthony Mendoza, Jeanette Mendoza, Roseanne Nieves and Joshua Nieves.  She is also survived by her 4 great-grandchildren; Isabella Ramos, Marcos A. Ramos, MaKayla Morales and Caleb Montanez and by her sister Ana Rivera.

Eufemia was predeceased by her sister and 4 brothers.

The viewing will be held for family and friends on Friday, March 18 ^th from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the Puerta de Refugio Church, 1575 N. Valley Ave. Vineland, and again on Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 am at the Church.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am, Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery.
