Evelio Velez-Pabon, age 83 of Vineland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday January 9, 2014 in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland. Evelio was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to the late Pedro and Nicolasa (Pabon) Velez and was a resident of Vineland for the past 10 years. Prior to retirement, he worked as a chef for the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in N.Y.C. Evelio was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish of Vineland. He enjoyed reading, music, watching Spanish soap operas and playing dominoes. Mostly Evelio enjoyed sharing time with his family and friends. Evelio is survived by his 3 loving children: 2 sons; Evelio Velez Jr. and David Velez and wife Charmaine. His Daughter, Gloria Velez-Medina and husband Anibal. 10 grandchildren; Fernando, Eryceth, Kathleen, Roseanne, Michael, Gina, Evelio III, Vanness, Quintessa, and Xavier. 10 great-grandchildren; Fernando Jr., Norberto Jr., Tatyanna, Faith, Samuel, Noemi, Destiny, Kathlyn, Lazaro and Ethan. Also survived by his nephews; Angel and Joshua Minguela, Michael and Jeffrey Alvarez, Fransisco Velez and Luis Alvarez. Nieces; Irma Velez and Carmen Velez. By his sister, Carmen Alvarez and husband Modesto and 2 brothers; Pedro Velez and Antonio Velez-Pabon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14th at 10:00 am at Divine Mercy Parish, 23 W. Chestnut Ave. Vineland. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. The viewing will be on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, and also on Tuesday from 9:00-10:00 am at the Church.
