Evelyn Baez, age 62, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25th 2018 at the Hospice House in Newport, N.C.  She was employed by Carteret Health Care and worked in the environmental services for 8 years.  Though feisty in spirit, Evelyn had a heart of gold, willing to help all those in need.  She loved to share time with her family and friends.

Evelyn was the daughter of the late Monserrate and Gloria Santiago and the sister of the late Edwin Santiago.  She will be lovingly remembered by; her 3 children, Bruce Baez and Snyder Baez, both of N.C. and Kimberly Baez of FL.,  and her 6 grandchildren, Ciara Baez, Yamil Walker Jr., Christian Baez, Jaelyn Walker, Brianna Baez and Natalie Baez.  Evelyn is also survived by her 4 cherished sisters; Debra Pierce (Donnie), Ines Mercado, Eugenia Ayala and Tona Salas, along with her niece Jazmin, who held a special place in Evelyn's heart and several nieces and nephews and her God-daughters Markiea Smith and Giselle Lee.

Evelyn's funeral service will be held on Monday evening, Jan. 29th at 7:00 pm at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, NJ, family and friends may gather from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  Interment will be private.
