Genevieve Carbonara November 15, 1936 – July 27, 2026
Vineland, New Jersey - Our loving mother, Genevieve Carbonara, passed away peacefully at her home on July 27, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 89 years old.
Born on November 15, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Genevieve was the daughter of John and Lena (Santoro) Salla. She later moved to Vineland, NJ, where she graduated from Vineland High School and attended community college. On September 1, 1956, she married Paul C. Carbonara, whom she always described as the love of her life. They shared 53 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2009.
Genevieve's life was a testament to her deep faith and devotion to family. She found immense joy in the company of her loved ones, continually fostering a spirit of togetherness. Proud of her Italian heritage, she cherished traditions that emphasized family, hospitality, and kindness. She was bright, intellectually curious, and a life-long reader with a passion for learning. She also loved the beach and treasured time spent with her family in Sea Isle City, NJ.
Genevieve retired from her role as Front End Manager at Shop N Bag in Vineland, where she built enduring friendships with coworkers and customers alike. Genevieve was known for her warm heart, genuine compassion, and deep concern for those less fortunate.
Genevieve is survived by her children, Lauren Spagno (Anthony), Mark Carbonara (Rosanne Day), Paul Carbonara (Michael Michlada), and Glenn Carbonara (Kristina Pucher); her siblings, Vincent Salla (Charlotte) and Roselle Nickerson (Jack); her grandchildren, Danielle Campione (Allen), Zachary, Gabrielle, and Gianna; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family is especially grateful to her nephew, Brian Grisafi, and her sister, Roselle, for the compassionate care and comfort they provided during her final days.
Genevieve will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, and the love she gave so freely to her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched.
