Gilberto Bermudez, age 88, of Vineland, went to be with the Lord, after several years of being ill, on Friday, May 1, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Gilberto was born October 1, 1926 to Eladio Bermudez and Juanita Lugo in Pastalles, Utuado, Puerto Rico. He was presented to the Lord by Pastor Antero Ramos. At the age of 12 he was baptized in water. In 1951 Gilberto moved to the state of Florida where he lived for several years. In 1953 he moved to Vineland, NJ to be with his parents, brothers and sisters, he had a beautiful family of 17 siblings, his brothers and sisters were a strong support throughout his lifetime. In July 18, 1954 Gilberto married a beautiful young woman, Rosa Maria Calderon, at the Newfield Pentecostal Church, by Pastor Tony Crescenzo. God blessed them with eight children. Gilbert, Herminia, Jeremias, Damaris, Stephen, Miqueas, Jacob and Merrari. He had 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was a proud and very successful owner of an ice-cream business named The Good Flavor, (Helado de coco) for over 20 years with his wife Rosa Maria, prior to her passing in 2004. Gilberto was a founder of the Spanish Pentecostal Church, in Vineland, NJ where he taught, preached, mentored and was director of the choir. He loved playing the guitar, listening to classical music and gardening., Funeral services for Gilberto were held on Monday, May 4, 2015. Burial took place at Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
