IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen L
Moore
September 21, 1939 – October 2, 2024
Helen (Baer) Moore, 85, of Vineland, NJ was welcomed into her eternal home by her Lord and Savior on October 2, 2024. Greeting her in heaven were her loving husband of 23 years, Pastor Ernest Moore, parents John Baer and Catherine Navone Baer, sister Shirley Baer Hughes, brother Chester Baer, and stepdaughter Diane Moore. Left to cherish her memory are her children Keith Irons (Rosalie), Kenneth Irons, Kurt Irons, Kathryn Irons Seagrave (Will), Christin Irons, stepchildren Deborah Mullins (Dave), Ernest "Sam" Moore (Holly), ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren (with another on the way), and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Helen was born in Bridgeton on September 21, 1939. After graduating from Vineland High School in 1957, Helen was accepted to West Jersey Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1960 with a R.N. degree. Upon graduating, Helen worked as a plant nurse for Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Bridgeton, NJ, and then as a floor nurse at Newcomb Hospital. Helen also worked as a substitute nurse for the Vineland Public School system. Her final professional role was as the Social Services nurse for the Vineland Housing Authority until she retired. Helen then took on a role she was born to fulfill as a pastor's wife.
Helen excelled in many ways throughout her life. During her high school career, she was a member of the Jr. Red Cross for all four years. She also played the accordion in the band. During her time in nursing school, she was S.F.C.G. President and President of the Judiciary Council. She was given the honor of representing her peers at the Student Nurse Convention hosted in Florida. Upon graduation from nursing school, she received the National Council of Jewish Women Award for the best bedside nurse and the West Jersey Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association award for the senior making the greatest contribution toward enriching the lives of students.
As a mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Helen leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness and a steadfast faith in Christ. She loved people and humbly served whenever she was called upon. She spent several years as Room Mother, and was active in most events held at Cumberland Christian School where all four of her children attended. She was also fully involved with Christian Women's Club where for many years she took the role of Chairman. She did "the project" portion of the luncheons where she would dress up and play a role in order to influence donations for the missionaries supported through StoneCroft Ministries. She was an active member of Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church through her childhood and the majority of her adulthood. She transferred membership to Maranatha Baptist Church during her courtship and marriage to Pastor Moore. She was passionate about women's ministries where she cherished her meetings with the women in the church while finding ways to engage them in God's word. As a women's ministry leader at Maranatha, she planned many memorable events including her beloved tea socials. Missions were always a calling for her as well; she was actively involved with missions at Maranatha and then at Calvary Bible Fellowship for as long as her health allowed.
Helen was known for her warmth and genuine care for those around her, as well as her positive outlook on life. She always had a kind word, a tidbit of wisdom, or a prayer, and she never forgot to call or send a card to those she loved. She enjoyed traveling all over the country to be with the friends and family she held so dear. She especially loved traveling to Lancaster and her shopping trips "over the bridge."
Other than God, her biggest love was her family. Her home was always a gathering place filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. She found joy in every moment spent with her loved ones, celebrating milestones and offering unwavering support. Helen's life is a shining example of a "good and faithful servant." She ran her race well and overcame every challenge she faced with grace and dignity until the Lord called her home. She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she impacted. However, "it's not goodbye, it's just goodnight. I'll see you in the morning."
