Idaphene "Scotty" Garton passed away peacefully on Saturday February 15, 2014. Scotty was born on November 4, 1919 in Dover Delaware as Idaphene McGregor. She lived most of her life in Vineland, NJ and graduated from Vineland High School with the class of 1938. On June 20, 1938 she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Henry "Bub" Garton, Jr. They were married for over seventy years when he died on January 23, 2009. After marrying, she ran the office of Garton's Express until she retired to become a full time homemaker and mother. Scotty was very active in the community, most notably as the First Lady of Vineland for ten years. She was also a member of the American Red Cross, the Vineland Women's Club and team mother to her son's sports teams. Scotty was a very loving, pleasant, compassionate and caring person, who always had a very warm smile for everyone. Her main focus in life was her family, which gave her great joy and fulfillment. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Scotty is survived by her two sons; Henry "Buster" and his wife Sandy and Bruce and his fiancé Ellie Unger, all of Vineland. Five grandchildren; Butch and his wife Leslie of Vineland, Katie of N.Y.C., Rob and his wife Erin, Jeff and his wife Jody and Travis, all of Vineland. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; Victoria, Henry, Gabriel, Lucas, Jake, Sydney, Jeffrey and Max. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb.22nd at 10:00 am at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 10245 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 9:00-10:00 am at the funeral home.
