Isabel Mendez age 78, of Vineland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2022.  She was born in Adjuntas, P.R. on December 15, 1943.

She was employed for DeRossi & Son Co. as a seamstress and also was a member of the old Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Isabel participated as a member of the Christians in Action Youth group, together with her daughter Damaris (R.I.P.) and her son Jason Cortes.  Her family meant the world to her.

Isabel's talents were many, she was a great seamstress, cook and vocalist. She had a unique vocal sound that brought smiles and joy during Christmas and Holiday season.  In 2015 she was nominated and honored as Exemplary mother of the year by the Vineland Puerto Rican Festival.

Isabel is predeceased by her parents Dominga Mendez and Serapio Mendez, her seven brothers, Angel Mendez, Aurelio Mendez, Guillermo Mendez, Cheo Mendez, Juan Mendez, Moncho Mendez and David Mendez, along with her sister Dominga (Ita) Guzman and daughter Damaris Cortes.

She is survived by the father of her children, Nelson Cortes of Vineland and her two children, Nelson Cortes Jr., and Carlos J. Cortes along with her granddaughter Jaylyn Diamaris Cortes. Also her sister Antonia (Toña) Mendez and brother Lorenzo Mendez of (Florida) and many nieces and nephews.

She will forever be remembered for her generous heart, loving words, dedication to her family and friends and most of all her exceptional talents.
