Ismael Cortes, age 61 of Vineland, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Ismael was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico to the late Eulogio and Trifina (Custodio) Cortes and was a resident of Vineland for most of his life. Ismael was a Boy Scout for the Spanish Catholic Center in the early 1960's, he enjoyed fishing and working on old cars. Ismael is survived by his daughter Stephanie Cortes and fiancé Jose Lugo of Wilmington, N.C. and his 2 sons; Joshua Cortes and Justine and grandson Shane, of Winnabow, N.C. and Philip Cortes and wife Hunter of Wilmington, N.C. Also by his 2 sisters; Aurea Esther Bermudez and husband Avisail and Miriam Flores and husband Onesto, all of Vineland. And many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, with Monsignor Victor Muro officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. The viewing will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
