Jean (Jeanette) Kathryn Shields, a devoted mother, grandmother, homemaker, and Vineland resident for over 60 years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children and grandson on Friday, July 4 2025 after a long illness. She was 80 years old.

Born in Lindenwold, NJ, on June 27 1945 she was the daughter of the late George B Irwin and Marie G (Hatten) Irwin. Before her marriage to her late husband Francis J Shields she contributed her skills working at the Newcomb Hospital Lab and later Scott Paper as well as Kimble and Wheaton Glass.

Jean dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family. She had a kind and generous spirit, always quick to give to those in need. She possessed a lively sense of humor and treasured moments spent with her family. An avid and knowledgeable collector of dolls and antiques, she also held a strong interest in her family history and had pride in her Scottish heritage and had a love for her country as well. An animal lover, her heart held a special place for her cats.

Jean is survived by her son Shawn and his wife Niya of Iselin, NJ, her daughter Stephanie of Vineland, her daughter Georgianna Lahendro and grandson Stanley Lahendro III, both of Millville and four siblings Barbara Ardecki, John Irwin, Sharon Riendeau and Judith Fiocchi. She was predeceased by her husband Francis, her parents and three siblings, brothers George and William Irwin and her sister Darlene Roberts.

Jean's funeral services were private.
