Joan H. Shaw, age 90 of Vineland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Genesis Millville Center, Millville.

Joan was born in Stratford, NJ to the late Robert and Edna (Ernst) Hartsell and was a resident of Vineland for most of her life. She was a graduate of Vineland High School with the class of 1951. Prior to her retirement, Joan was employed by the City of Vineland Police Department and was the first female hired as a dispatcher and also a special officer. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning and sharing homemade care packages to her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Shaw in 1966 and by her daughter Debra in 2003 and her brother, Bob and sister, Bette.

Joan is survived by her 5 beloved children; John G. Shaw Jr. (Pamela), Edward R. Shaw (Susan), Bruce D. Shaw (Kathleen), Kimberly D. Shaw (Kenny) and Valerie J. Shaw, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 31st at 11:00 am at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville. Family and friends may gather for the viewing on Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm and again on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home.
