Joan H. Wood passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the age of 76, in her hometown of Vineland, New Jersey. A lifelong resident, Joan embodied the spirit of generosity and lived by the belief that "it is more blessed to give than to receive." Her kindness and selflessness touched countless lives, and her love for her family knew no bounds.

Joan was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother. She met the love of her life, Robert T. Wood Sr., in 1971. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their son, Robert T. Wood Jr. Joan's family was her greatest joy, and she embraced her role as "Grammy" to her beloved grandchildren with warmth, pride, and unconditional love.

Professionally, Joan worked as a legal assistant to Frank Risenburger in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where she served with dedication and integrity until her retirement in 2011.

Joan was an active member of her community. She was proud of her heritage and was a member of the Greenwich Tea Burning Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Vineland Women's Club, and St. Paul Lutheran Church.

After retiring, Joan and her husband Robert enjoyed traveling extensively. They shared memorable adventures on cruises and journeys across Europe, Israel, and the United States. Her favorite place, however, was Long Lake in Quebec, where she spent 14 cherished summers surrounded by family and grandchildren. Winters were enjoyed in Florida, always seeking warmth, both in weather and in the company she kept.

Joan's presence was a gift, and while she may be gone from our sight, she will forever remain in our hearts.

She is survived by her loving husband Robert T. Wood Sr.; her son, Robert T. Wood Jr. of San Diego, California; and her grandchildren: Aiden, Ava, Lincoln, and Nolan, also of San Diego. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara, and brother-in-law, Don Viola of Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

Joan was preceded in death by her father, Penn Hood; her mother, Eleanore Branson; and her brother, Arthur Hood.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 23rd with Rev. Karen W. Bernhardt officiating, at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland.  Family and friends may gather from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Following the service, Joan will be laid to rest at Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
