IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Paul
Courter
October 4, 1963 – June 1, 2024
John P. Courter, age 60, of Vineland, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born in Vineland, NJ, grandson to Normand-English and Russian immigrants, and the son of American-born parents. In 1981, before graduating from high school in 1982, by invitation, Mr. Courter visited France on a brief but extensive tour of industry-related manufacturing facilities.
In 1982, John held several part time jobs while continuing to work in a family-owned-and-operated small business. A family member suffered from a serious illness while a sister pursued a degree in the field of child psychology. John continued to study privately and to work within the fields of mechanical engineering, architecture design, computer drafting, and heavy equipment operations. IN 1990, he also briefly worked as an apprentice in specialized architectural mold fabrication.
After leaving the construction manufacturing industry in 1998, John chose to pursue a career in the culinary industry and completed a two-year comprehensive course at a local community culinary school. He graduated with a Gold Medallion in 2000 and worked exclusively in the cooking industry until 2004.
In 2004, because of a family member's catastrophic illness and her need for extensive care, John returned to work in the local construction-related industries from 2005-2013. He also wrote short stories, mathematical algorithms, and computer programming for video game design and alternative energy simulation software.
John is survived by his wife Carmen (Carrasco) Courter. His children, John K. and Mattew A. Courter. His parents, John R. and Nina K. (Korff) Courter and by his Uncle Edward Courter and Aunts Mary Lou Heeton and Edith Sabatini.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for John on Friday, June 7th from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00. Interment will be private.
