John J. Martinez Sr., age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at home, where he had been under the care of his family and Heartland Hospice. John was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico to the late Bernardo and Emelia (Mendez) Martinez. He lived most of his life in Vineland, NJ.

Prior to retirement, John worked over 40 years at Gray's Ferry Brick Company in Franklinville, NJ.

John is preceded in death by his wife Anna (Custodio) and his children Lillian (Cordero), Marivel (Mikus), John Martinez and his grandson Tyler Martinez.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his children Doris (Dino) Nanfara, David (Debra) Martinez and grandchildren Christian Martinez Eric Martinez, Lilliana Martinez, Magdalena Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Daniella Cordero, Angel Cordero, John Martinez, Brandon Martinez, and Micheal Martinez. He had two beautiful great grandchildren Sofia Martinez and Anastasia Kuznecow. He also leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Sara, Maria, Marisol and brother Iran, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He loved watching old western movies with his children. John also enjoyed gardening and fishing. His boisterous laughter will be missed.

John's funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends may gather from 9:30-11:00 AM on Thursday in the funeral home.
