Jose "Cheo" Alicea, age 90, of Vineland, was called home to be with the lord Wed. Oct 2nd 2024at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Cheo was born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico to the late Gaspar and Juanita (Santiago) Alicea and moved to Vineland in 1968, along with his wife Chencha and 2 children Edwin & Magaly Alicea. It didn't take him long to get to know the area or the people. Cheo had a passion for music he loved Boleros Salsa & Jazz he also enjoyed collecting baseball cards comic books & antiques. Watching horse racing was something he did regularly. Cheo became a very important pillar of the community and very involved in politics. He loved to do volunteer work and retired from Shieldalloy in Newfield, N.J.  Cheo was the founder of Amor Cristiano En Accion (Acea), where he was known for his annual Three Kings toy drive.

Cheo was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Chencha Torres Alicea and two daughters Wendely Alicea and Magaly Alicea.

He's survived by his son Edwin Alicea and grandchildren Tila Alicea, Wendy &Armando Rodriguez, Eddie, Jason, Christopher and Jessica Alicea, Evian Alicea Ciriany and Asiyah Cirilo Tellez. Along with  great-grandchildren, Karina Rodriguez, Selena Vetrano, Rianie Alyssa & Aja Rodan and Armando & Sean John Rodriguez, and many others.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, with Rev. Juan Ramos officiating. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends may gather from 10:00-11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
