Born in the Bronx, NY, on June 30, 1961 to Jose J. Castro and Iraida Serrano, then moving to Puerto Rico. Johnny joined the Army right after graduating high school and served for 4 years, an accomplishment that he was proud of. After leaving the Army, Johnny moved to Vineland, NJ in 1987, and for many years, Johnny lived a life rich with love and laughter. He devoted his life to his family, dedicating his time working along side his son, Jose Jr., spending time with his grandbabies, and enjoying listening and playing his favorite music, Salsa. His legacy will continue through his children and grandbabies, who were the light of his life.
Johnny is survived by his five children: Erika M. Perez (Antonio), Jose J. Castro Jr. (Jesenya), Nikki Rivera (Dwight), Anniliss Castro (Bubz), and Iraida Castro. He also leaves his brother, Jose A. Castro and sister Janice Castro. Johnny was a proud grandfather to his ten grandbabies: Emily Perez, Ava Perez, Erielle Perez, Kaylani Castro, Jyreh Castro, Ivan Rivera, Elias Rivera, Josiah Rivera, Avian James, and Aveen James-all who brought him immense joy and pride.
Johnny's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is at peace and will be forever grateful for the time they shared with him.
