God called Josefa Aponte, age 88 of Vineland,  to Her Eternal Paradise on August 30, 2016.   Josefa was born on March

19, 1928 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. She left her earthly body while at home surrounded by her family and friends.

Welcoming her at Heaven's gates along with Our Lord will be her beloved husband Domingo Aponte Sr., her sons Jose A. Aponte and Alfonso Aponte.

Josefa is survived by her 6 loving and devoted children and their spouses;   Rafael Aponte Sr. and wife Felipa of P.R., Enilda Santos and husband Carlos of Vineland, Justina Aponte of Vineland, Domingo Aponte Jr. of Mays Landing, Jay Aponte and wife Sonia of FL. and Margarita Moran and husband Rafael of Vineland.  She was also blessed with 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren who were her pride and joy.  Josefa will also be missed by her sister Esther Martinez of Vineland and by her brothers; Pablo Burgos, Nestor Burgos and Eduardo Burgos, all of P.R. and by many loving relatives and friends to cherish her memory.

Josefa was a loving mother and very dedicated to her family.  She moved from Manhattan NY to Vineland in 1968.* She was a women of strong faith and belief in the Lord.  Blessed with a pure loving heart to serve , Josefa was a lifelong member of the "Spanish Catholic Center", Immaculate Heart of Mary Church of the Divine Mercy Parish.  She had a passion for helping others in her community.  You could always count on Josefa to feed her neighbors, donating to someone in need, offering a prayer of comfort, or giving sound advice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday Sept. 3 ^rd at Divine Mercy Parish, 23 W. Chestnut Ave. Vineland. Josefa will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.  Family and friends may gather on Friday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, and also on Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 am at the Church.
