Josephine Burrell, age 91,of Forest Grove Section of Franklin Township, NJ, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ, surrounded by her loving family.

Josephine was born and raised in Vineland, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Antonio and Antoinette Scarpa. She was the eighth of nine children and the last surviving member of her family.  Josephine was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1991 and infant grandson, Arthur III.

She is survived by her children, June (Edwin) Barry of Voorhees, NJ, Ann Burrell (John Furgione) of Medford, NJ, Arthur Burrell of Franklin Township, NJ and Bruce Burrell at home. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Douglas (Megan) Barry, Jillian Barry and Jessica Burrell, and nieces and nephews.

Josephine came from a warm and loving family, who called her "Jessie". Circumstances led her to grow-up quickly. At 16, she left school to care for her ailing mother. Josephine was able to raise her four children while also working as a valued partner in her husband's construction business.Later, she worked at Andrews Glass in Newfield, NJ for over 25 years. Through her life experiences, she served as a source of wisdom for her family, who often sought out her advice and guidance.  She was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newfield, NJ.

Family and friends will remember Josephine for her grace, generosity, being a wonderful cook and baker. Many of her favorite recipes were handed down from relatives. She also enjoyed gardening, spending summers in Avalon, and being with her grandchildren. Josephine was happiest hosting Sunday dinners surrounded by her family. She will be dearly missed.

Funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, June 28th  at 11:00 AM from Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Rose of Lima Church, 104 Catawba Ave. Newfield, NJ 08334. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.

Family and friends may gather in the CHURCH from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, prior to the liturgy.
