IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joshua N.
Rivera
December 24, 1941 – July 11, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Joshua Neftali Rivera, on Friday, July 11, 2025 in Vineland, New Jersey. He was 83 years old.
Joshua was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic while his father, a Seventh-day Adventist minister worked there to share the gospel message. He attended Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Maryland where he majored in Music, then obtained his Masters degree at University of Southern California. Joshua was employed by the Cumberland County Board of Social Services for over 35 years, and was a dedicated member of the Woodbury Seventh-day Adventist church where he served faithfully as an Elder and Church Choir Director.
Joshua enjoyed gatherings with friends and family and singing for various church events, weddings, and Church camp meetings. Although he was visually impaired, he overcame that obstacle with dignity and grace, and his love and dedication reached many people.
Joshua was predeceased by Bonnie his former wife of 38 years, three brothers, Joseph, Guidel, Ruben, and sister, Lois. He is survived by Betty, his wife of 17 years; his son Adam Rivera; daughter Karla Curtis (Matthew); sister Tirsa Gonzalez of Indiana, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, memories of Joshua remain in the hearts of all who loved him and whose lives he touched.
A celebration of life service for Joshua N. Rivera will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the Woodbury Seventh-day Adventist Church, 330 E. Barber Ave. Woodbury, NJ 08096. A dditional parking on adjacent residential street or small park across from church Repast to follow service.
