Lucila Alfaro, age 88, 0f Bridgeton (formerly of Vineland), passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Inspira Medical Center, Vineland.

Lucila was born in Juana Dias, Puerto Rico to the late Santo and Marta (Miranda) Santiago and she live in South Jersey most of her life.

Prior to retirement, she was employed by Trump Plaza in Environmental Services. Lucila enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting and sharing time with her family.

Lucila was predeceased by her son, Leonardo Merino and by 1 great-grandson, Jovanni Boyle.

She is survived by 4 children, Jose Merino and his wife Sarah of Florida, Gerardo Merino and his wife Ofelia of Hammonton, Lucy (Merino) Figueroa of Millville and Marta Merino of Bridgeton. Also 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and her sister, Carmen Santiago and husband Robert of Country Club, Puerto Rico.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends may gather in the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday.
