IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Luz M
Rodriguez
March 5, 1942 – December 15, 2025
Our Beloved Mother, Luz M. Rodriguez, 83, of Vineland, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 5, 1942, in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, Luz lived a long and fulfilled life marked by compassion, humor, and devotion to those she loved most.
Luz was the cherished daughter of the late Gregorio Rodriguez and Leonor Perez. She was a devoted mother to her children—Edward (Penguin) Santiago, who preceded her in death, and her surviving daughters Katty Santiago, Maribel Ramos, Migdalia Santiago, Maria Farfan, and Leonilza Santiago, along with her son William Santiago. Her love extended beyond her children to her siblings, her nieces and nephews, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to feel the warmth of her presence and remember the joy she brought into their lives.
Those who knew Luz best would say she had a heart full of kindness and a spirit that could light up any room. She was a caring, loving, and compassionate mother, a wonderful sister, and an adoring grandmother. Her sense of humor was legendary—her jokes and laughter filled every gathering, turning even ordinary moments into cherished memories.
Luz loved spending time with her family and friends and always welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and a warm meal. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and joy, known far and wide for her delicious white rice and beans with pig's feet—a favorite among family and friends. She found great pleasure in the simple joys of life: playing Bingo, visiting the casino, or enjoying a lively game of dominoes or cards. On sunny days, she delighted in going to the park to watch the ducks while savoring a sweet ice cone, or as we say, "piragua" or a refreshing piña colada.
In addition to her dedication to her family, Luz also spent several years working as a Cottage Aide at the Vineland Developmental Center before retiring. Her compassionate nature shined through in her work, as she cared for others with patience and love.
Funeral services for Luz will be held at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360 on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Family and friends may gather from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday in the funeral home, prior to her service. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 741 E. Walnut Road.
Luz's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her laughter will echo in the stories and smiles of those she loved.
