Marion M. Smith, age 92 of Vineland passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 in Bishop McCarthy Residence, Vineland. Marion was born in Woodlynne, NJ to the late Samuel E. and Jennie C. (Sell) Smith and spent most of her life living on S. East Ave in Vineland, NJ. He father built the house where she spent her childhood. She and her father built the garage that still stands today. Marion was a career Nurse. She told reporters when interviewed many years ago that "I wanted to be a nurse since I have been so big" while pointing to her knees. After her father's death in 1968, Marion and her mother were known to many as the "towel ladies". She and her mother would hand sew and crochet towels and other items and sell them at the local flea markets. She made many dear friends along the way and she outlived most all of them. After her mother's death in 1993, Marion continued the tradition of sewing and selling her towel's while enjoying bus trips to Atlantic City whenever she could. She loved to play her Mr. Cashman machine! When she wasn't in A.C. she spent much of her time at the Senior Center in Vineland. Marion was a strong willed and steadfast woman. She was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Vineland. She lived her life exactly as she wanted, and had no hesitation to tell you what was on her mind. She spent the last few years in Bishop McCarthy residence in Vineland by her own choice, where they took very good care of her. She lived and died on her own terms. God Speed Aunt Marion. Marion is survived by good friends, Scott and Tammy Kirby of Riverside, NJ. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, June 13th at 12:00 noon in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland, with Rev.
