Melissa Nichole Hickman (Buckalew) from Vineland, NJ was born on May 7, 1983 in Lakenheath, England. She passed away on Friday December 20, 2024. She was 41 years old.

Missy, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and kindness. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends and others who were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way she lived.

Missy is survived by her loving children, Ayanna Diaz-Gonzalez and Clifford Lewis Jr., her parents, William Buckalew III and Dianna Ferrer (Harris), brother, William Buckalew IV and wife Lauren, grandsons, Elias and Josiah Gonzalez, Nieces, Addison and Baylor, and nephew Finley. She was predeceased by her grandmothers, Diane Harris and Leah Simpkins and son-in-law, Steven Gonzalez, who she loved as her own.

Missy found joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, listening to music, reading, nice walks and long drives. She enjoyed binging on documentaries and doing diy house projects. Her favorite scripture was Corinthians 16:14 "Do Everything in Love".

Those who knew Missy will remember her for her infectious smile, her humor and sarcastic wit, her nurturing way and empathetic heart. She was always there when you needed her, with words of encouragement and positivity. She was the best advice giver and could always ease your mind, leaving you with a peace that everything was going to be just fine. She had a gift of making others smile and laugh, leaving an impression on all who crossed her path.

Although Missy's physical presence may no longer be with us, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 2nd at 11:00 am at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland. Family and friends may gather from 10:00 - 11:00 am, prior to the service. Interment will be private
