Miguel A. MarquezEscribano, age 77, of Vineland, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.
Known affectionately to many as “Papo the Mechanic,” Miguel was a man whose life was built on hard work, determination, and a natural gift for fixing things. Born in the small town of Comerío, Puerto Rico, he was the fifth of seven children, born to Cruise Márquez Soto and Jacinta Escribano. His roots in Puerto Rico remained an important part of who he was, and the values he carried from his upbringing stayed with him throughout his life.
Miguel discovered his love for cars at an early age. His passion was so strong that he sometimes skipped school to spend time at the neighborhood repair garage, where he learned the trade from a local mechanic. What began as a young boy's curiosity grew into a lifelong calling. For more than 40 years, Miguel worked as a mechanic, earning a reputation as someone you could always count on when your car needed fixing. His hands were skilled, his knowledge was earned through years of experience, and his dedication to his craft was unmistakable.
But beyond the cars he repaired and the years he spent working, Miguel's greatest legacy lives on in the people who knew and loved him. To many, he was more than just a mechanic; he was “Papo” and he leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his two daughters, Maria and Waleska; his beloved grandchildren, Jesmar, Jeriel, Jesus, and Natalia; five siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland, New Jersey. Family and friends are invited to gather from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service to pay their respects and share memories.

Miguel A. MarquezEscribano
