Modesta Rodriguez-Martinez, age 74 of Manhattan, New York passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2022 in Milstein Hospital, Manhattan, where she was in care of nurses that loved her deeply. Modesta was born on October 12, 1948 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to the late Iluminado and Iluminada (Martinez) Rodriguez and later moved to NYC, where she took care of her children.

Modesta "Mama" worked making dresses for Cristian Woman, and later moved back to Puerto Rico to take care of her mother. Mama was loved by many because she brought happiness into their hearts. Her daughter, Estrella Velez took care of her when she developed Leukemia.

Mama had five children that where a blessing of God, Adelaida Santiago, Estrella Velez, Julio Velez, Jose Velez and Maria Ortiz, and also extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Wainwright-Bernhardt Funeral Home, 1024 E. Landis Ave. Vineland, New Jersey 08360. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday, prior to the service.
