Nancy Viola Nylund, age 87 (nee Backman) passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2018 at her home under the care of her family and hospice.

Nancy was born in New York City, relocated to Vineland with her parents in 1940, and has since been a lifelong resident of Vineland, NJ.  Nancy was the daughter of the late Karl and Ines Backman who were immigrants of Finland.  She was a graduate of Vineland High School and later attended a medical technology school in NYC.  Over the years, she also worked at the Vineland Training School, Tradesman Bank and in several real estate offices, including Nylund Realtors.  Nancy was a former member of the Vineland Women's club and a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Vineland, where she had been a Sunday school teacher.

Nancy's greatest joy in life was caring for her family and pets.  She also enjoyed the Jersey shore, swimming at the YMCA and her Bible study group at Redeemer Church.  Above all, Nancy loved to share time with her children and grandchildren.

Nancy was predeceased by her son Karl Nylund in 1990 and by her step-father Albert Streng.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Harry Nylund.  Her 2 sons; Robert and wife Kathleen of Woodbury, NJ and Douglas and wife Peggy of Millville, NJ, and by her daughter, Deborah Morton of Atlanta, GA.  Her 3 grandchildren; James and Jacob Morton and Melisa Kennedy, along with her great-grandson Shawn Watkins.  Nancy is also survived by her niece and nephew and extended family in Sweden and Finland.

Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, April 28th  from 9:00 – 10:30 am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2384 E. Landis Ave. Vineland.  Her funeral service will begin at 10:30 with interment to follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
